| New Delhi: It is action time for Pakistan as this terror-stricken country is gradually putting its power against the terror outfits operating across the nation. Only few days after JuD chief Hafiz Saeed was brought under house arrest, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari passed an ordinance on Friday to extend the anti-terrorism law against rebadged groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The new ordinance under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997 states that if the members of an proscribed organisation intend to establish a different organisation with a new name and their activities are found suspicious then the new organisation shall also be considered as a proscribed one. Moreover, the Pakistani government shall be compelled to issue a formal notification about the proscription of the new group. The new ordinance expands the meaning of the word terrorism and considers that those involved in sponsoring such activities, offering logistics aid and indirectly supporting such terror activities are also to be treated as terrorists by law and their level of punishment will be as per the decree set for the terrorists. |
